2006 Concha y Toro Don Melchor. I have had this wine several times over the last 2 years. Young but drinking so well now with a short decant. Had this in Victoriaville Quebec before an amazing Jazz concert. Went great with rare filet demi glace and wild mushrooms. :rasisered:

2004 D'Alessandro Il Bosco. Great fruit, complex and a long finish. Drinking well now but has room to improve over the next few years. Italian Syrah Rocks. Can't wait to try the Migliara as I have both the 2006 and 2007(as well as Il Bosco). The winemaking team is led by Luca Currado of Vietti. ;)

First try ay a Bibi Graetz wine and I am impessed. 100% Sangiovese this wine has great fruit smooth complex palate and a long finish. A few years of age is still required so that this Tuscan beauty can fully shine. 94+.
Has anyone tried the wines of Bibi Graetz?

2004 Smith-Madrone Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District

I've always been a huge fan of the Smith-Madrone Rieslings, and some of their Chardonnay as well, so I picked up a few bottles of their cab a few years back to try. This is an old school Napa Cab, with black currant and blackberry fruit with some tar, sage and cocoa powder with somewhat firm but integrated tannins. A little one dimensional and not giving much on the nose as a soloist but paired with a beautiful steak, corn on the cob and steamed artichoke, this rocked! The texture got creamy, the fruit more pronounced. This is a wine that isn't flashy, but is interesting and soulful. Give it an hour decant or even 3-4 more years in the bottle. With the aforementioned steak and Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyage, this didn't disappoint. Hard to assign points, but I'd give it a range of 89-93.

I was at an Italian wine tasting in montreal on June 6th. Two surprises were: 2006 Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino. What a beauty. Complex with great fruit acidity and length. 2006 Salcheto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Salco Evoluzione. Organic and eco-sustainable winery. This was so good with layers of fruit minerals and spices. Had a great talk with one of the owners Ron Prashker. He was as passionate about the wine as how they produce there own energy and care for the land. Bravo :rasisered:

My daughters high school graduation last night. Started with Taittinger Prestige Brut Rose NV(Magnum) and follwed by Il Pino Di Biserno 2007. A group of WS board friends were in the Resto by chance so they let me try a few rare gems: Montosoli 1990 and Sassicaia 1983(WOW!).

2007 Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso Toscana IGT- Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (7/18/2012)
100% Cabernet Franc. This is my first try at Paleo and I was impressed. Beautiful fruit with acidity and fine tannins . Balanced and quite good at this early age. Opened 2-3 hours before. Good now but better in a few years. (94 points)

From a few nights ago - 2010 Antica Terra Erratica - Bit of a haze in the bottle. Orangish-pink color. Red fruits and herbs on the nose. Strawberry, pomegranate, red currant, herbs de provence and iodine all linger on the palate. Complex with a long finish. Fun yet fabulous wine.

Hi guys i'm new here and loving all the information on the site and forum!
Just had a great family get together and roasted a Ibirico suckling for 6 hours in the garden.
We started off drinking a Polmerol Trotanoy 89 still a great wine but showing age now.
It had some of that wet forrest floor wood scent if you will like some wines from St Julien.
I can't recall this in passed tastings so i'm guessing its due to the age but all in all a great merlot wine.
Next up i tried my first Sassicaia 2001, seriously powerfull with a huge nose, cassis tabacco dark red fruits absolutely loved it.
After that we were pretty much done for the night but dad said let's open a burgundy for comparrison and fun.
So he opened up a Corton-Bressange, Tollot Beaut 1993 it just left everyone silent at the table.
So much red fruit and vibrance with a great long finish just exeptional. Funny how this bottle just had everyone wide awake again.
I did not see it coming but i'll def be on the lookout for some of these bottles.
Burgundy ages perfectly in my opinion.
For a last glass i opened up a Alvear Pedro Ximenez 1927 which i bought for about 14 euro's.
Very rich coffee toffee nutty creamy sirup like sherry. Its an absolute bargain this one.

Cheers Frederic

2009 Quinto do Crasto Duoro
Absolutely mindblowing for only $14. Lush, dense mouthfilling juicy delicious fruit on the palate. (Think floral/berry.) But Old World in style. :D A pronounced meaty scent in addition to the opulent fruit on the nose. Nice finish.

I'm drinking a bottle of 2005 Lascombes. Really soft and smooth. Red fruit, lilac, lavender and elderflower. 92-93 points. 5 more years would be ideal.

1985 Pavillon Blanc, Margaux. This is the only white wine produced by Chateau Margaux. First off, I'm not very familiar with white bordeaux, but I can tell this is a fantastic wine. A little musty upon opening, but that went away within 20 minutes. Elderberry flower, passionfruit, very bright. The finish is super long. The wine seemed so smooth and refined wine, it was almost like drinking water. Label only says alcohol 11-13% Not as experienced as James of course at rating, but I'd say at least 93+ points for sure. These are very special. Still have part of the bottle left. Might try to post some pictures later. I have 3 bottles left anyway, but will be saving them for a while.
