2007 Ruffino Modus Toscana IGT. Bought this over a year ago(first bottle). What a great wine for under $30. Beautiful fruit seamless intigration of tannins and acidity. Long and more complex than wines many times it's price. Lot's of talk around this wine as James rated it 96 points while many others gave it far less. Should have gone with Sucklings evaluation. I only bought six but discovered a new wine.
Thank you James
This is precisely why people say "different strokes". I think this wine sucks. I bought it because of the review. I should have known that years of disappointing Ruffino wines (gold label, parchment, Cabreo il Borgo) should have been warning enough. But no, I caved. It's nothing but bitter astringent tannin and no fruit. It's so oaked it left splinters in my tongue - and I don't mind oak. Why kill all that nice fruit with barrique?
Wanna trade for my last bottle?
I was surprised by the wine

. It showed well on the second night as well

Maybe it was the fact I layed it down for a year before trying. James did recomend drinking after 2014

All I know is it showed beautifully and at under $30 I wished I would have bought a few more. Maybe this is a case of a wine exceeding it's pedigree. I have not been impressed with Ruffino wines in the past as well. This one is the exception for me
