Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova

Postby JohnnyB » Tue Jun 21, 2011 5:33 pm

Just oppened my first bottle of Tenuta Nuova 2004.
Fantastic young wine. The nose was amazing with dark fruit and spices that kept me comming back again and again. The palate was deep with smooth tannins and some acid. Let breathe for 4 hours before bringing to Portovino in Montreal. This wine was far more impressive than the 2005 I tasted at Gambero Rosso event two weeks ago. Can't wait to try the 2006, I hear it's even better. 95 points.
What is your experience with this wine or any wine of Di Neri's :?:

Thanks for the notes. I had the pleasure of sampling the 2001 earlier this spring. It's in such great shape right now: so rich and full-bodied. It came across as very luxurious and modern on that evening - still mostly about the fruit. I look forward to following this wine over the next several years. I haven't tried the '06 yet, but I've made some purchases via the internet, and I plan to open a bottle soon after receiving my first shipment.

Both '01 & '04 are fantastic. It has been some time since I've had the '01 & '04. Should be great fun to do side by side comparisons of the two in the coming years. The '04 was an overwhelming favorite at an '04 Brunello tasting I attended about two years ago. Wine was just awsome!

If it fits into your budget try and pick up a few bottles of Cerretalto in top vintages, you won't be disappointed.

And hear I thought you opened a 2006 and really took one for the team! :)

I only started buying this wine in the 2001 vintage and really got those deeply discounted. The wine is phenomenal, so I'm not surprised the 2004 showed well. I also got several bottles of the 2003 which were like $40 around here. Even for the vintage, it was a great price and value.

+1 It probably goes without saying, but give 'em more time to cellar than the Tenuta Nuova. A '99 Cerretalto I had within the last year was still short of being 'open,' IMHO.

I have a few bottles of the 2004 Cerritalto and I will wait a long time to open them.I got to try it at the Gambero Rosso show last year and it was amazing. I went by the Di Neri table at least 4 times . I am travelling to the US this weekend am picking up a case of De Neri TN 2006. I plan on checking one out later this summer before it hits the market in Quebec.

Just bought a bunch of the 2006 from the SAQ at $70/btl. A beautiful nose smooth palate and a long finish. It needs 3-4 years to reach it full potential. Can't wait to try the 2007 ;)
