Lets keep this Cigar forum smoking

Postby moparman » Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:50 pm

Gang, the cigar forum is slowing down a bit here by the looks of it. Lets not lose a good thing.
Perhaps we need to keep the ideas and fresh thoughts coming for James and the gang.
While the viewing population is global, perhaps some more regional focus will invoke more conversations.

I for one would like to see local club or gatherings posted from your area to drive interest.
At least it would be an avenue to start from.
Or maybe collector ideas or sharing-swapping of inventory. Pics of interest from different venues, trips, etc.

Maybe a humidor thread.

Just a thought.

Thanks Ward in Toronto

PS all this typing has made me thirsty...nothing a glass of Basciano Chianti Rufina 2006 won't cure!!!

I agree, threw in a new post about humidor question. I wish we could get a little more traction as well

I read all the positive reviews there are now over 600, and well I was still skeptical, I bought the book. When he came I was flipping through a few pages and immediately shelved. I ignored the book in one year while my cigarette cough continued to worsen.

Here's a great motivation to quit smoking cigarettes: Imagine how many great cigars you could smoke a year with $1800. Instead of blowing $1800 on lousy cigarettes, spend it on great cuban cigars. I understand though, it's a difficult habit to quit. Just thought that idea might give some motivation to quit.

NB: The above two posts were responses to other posts which have... well, fallen victim to some spring cleaning. ;) Enjoy your smokes; carry on. :D

Being a robusto lover, I've got Hoyo Epicure #2 and a Vegas Famoso, as well as a RyJ Wide Churchill, (all with 2008 box codes) on deck. I've got younger product (Montecristo, Cohiba, Trinidad), but they're all '09 and '10 boxes, so I'm trying to wait on them.

In non-Cubans, I just got ahold of some Liga Privada #9 and T52 robustos I wanna' try soon (as well as some Dirty Rats and Flying Pigs that I'm in no hurry to smoke - rats and pigs: 'sounds appetizing, doesn't it? ). I'm also dying to try an A. Fuente Anejo 50, so one of those is likely to burn soon. Maybe a Rocky Patel Decade torpedo also. All of the above would be firsts for me, which is why they stand out in my mind.

Tonight's probably a Liga Privada #9. RyJ will also likely be this weekend. Ya, 'looks good to me! ;)

Maybe we should create some rules around a today's smoke thread and make an effort to post in it daily. Such as anyone can post the thread, there's one a day, and there is a format such as "Today's Smoke 3/19/10". Also ask guys to try and provide a brief description of how it's smoking.

Just my two cents, but I think the cigar forum would pick up on its own if there were more cigar content generally on the site. I'm a non-drinker, so much as I enjoy following James it makes no sense for me to pay a premium membership mostly for wine videos. And when some of the scant cigar content that is here is put behind the paywall, it all ads up to a disappointing turn-off. Shame, as these are impressionable early days for those visiting the site.

Fellas, y'all gotta' put up or shut up. :D ;) I can't help but to notice how I'm dominating the "What did you smoke today?" section, and I don't even smoke every day. I'm eager to hear/view forumites' contributions, and if it gets enough momentum, perhaps we could consider a daily post area.
