My Bordeaux Confidential event is returning to the US in May. All the wines to be showcased at my New York event on May 14 and my San Francisco event on May 16 are guaranteed to be superb.

Each château will present up to three wines, all of which are handpicked by me, scoring 90 points or above. A total of 45 wineries in total from the world's benchmark winemaking region will pour their top wines at the New York event before 35 wineries do the same on May 16 in San Francisco. This really is a Bordeaux extravaganza not to be missed by any professional wine trader or ordinary wine lover in the States.

The emphasis this year on the wines offered at the event is drinkability. That's why all the wines I selected for the event are from esteemed vintages such as 2005, 2009 and 2010 in addition to sleeper vintages such as 2012 and 2008.

This year, it will be particularly interesting for me to see how the US market will respond to Bordeaux with the 2014 en primeur campaign in full flow. Consumer confidence waned over the last three vintages due to high prices and poor quality. Yet now the dollar is strong against euro and after three years of silence, it might be time for the US market to replenish stocks again.
