James Suckling chats with Matt Brain, the winemaker of Alpha Omega Winery in Napa Valley, about the challenges of the 2020 vintage. "It was a tough vintage, there was a fire, and you managed to make some delicious wines," James told Matt.
"It really took everything that we had to pull this vintage off, from great viticulture and very timely, quick picking decisions to reacting in the winery, to rinsing the fruit, to press decisions ... not using too much new oak," Matt said. "So all of those decisions we really had to focus on to bring this vintage together."
