Alsace: Domaine Josmeyer – The Style of Josmeyer

Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Founded in 1854, Domaine Josmeyer has been run by the Meyer family since its creation. Today, it is managed by Céline Meyer (who appears in the video) with the vilification being at the hands of her sister Isabelle. The estate has 28 hectares of vineyards predominantly in the Hengst area, and has been biodynamic since 2004 with the help of vineyard manager Christophe Ehrhart.

As Céline explains in the video, at Josmeyer they aim to make dry, straightforward wines that can go with food. She believes miscommunication and sweeter styles of wine in the Alsace region has caused some consumers to seek out wine from other areas. Watch the video for her full insight.
