As James Suckling's Tasting Coordinator I organize all of his non-European tastings. This time it was a blind tasting of over 200 California Cabernets from the 2006 and 2007 vintages at the C.I.A. Greystone in St. Helena. James tasted the wines over four days last August. I bagged, numbered, and inputted the wines into a proprietary tasting program before James' arrival, and once he arrived it was show time.
The weather was warm, but thanks to Paul Dray and the rest of the staff at the Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies, we had a room specifically designed for wine tasting. Clean air, clean white surfaces, individual sinks at every station, and a steady temperature.
