Bordeaux 2009: A Vintage for a Lifetime (FREE)
My cameraman put together a promotional video for my 2009 Bordeaux report, which I just posted today. It’s chilled and fun, but also gives you insight to my weeklong tasting in the region.
I hope you enjoy it.
As I say in the car driving up the Medoc to some tastings, “I love Bordeaux in the morning.” The short video includes scenes from Cheval Blanc, Lafite-Rothschild, the new winery at Clerc-Milon (when I say, “Let’s go taste some wine.”)
I love it when Bruno Borie, the owner of Ducru-Beaucaillou, calls the 2009 “a Beyonce vintage!” Of course, my excitement tasting the 100-point Vieux-Chateau-Certan was pretty expressive…"ffffffffff!"
Even a vertical tasting at Margaux’s Brane-Cantenac gave me a number of surprises, although the 2009 was the best of the tasting of the ten most recent years.
Latour is 100 points. I think it is the 1959 reincarnated. A quick glimpse of me tasting the 100-point Cos d’Estournel with a happy estate president Jean-Guillaume Prats in the background says it all. And the last shot of me tasting the 2009 Petrus isn’t bad, but I didn’t give it a perfect score.
The 2009 vintage for Bordeaux is the best modern vintage ever. It’s a vintage that we will covet and enjoy for the rest of our lives.
