In this video, Frédéric Engerer, president of Château Latour, explains the 2011 vintage at the first growth. As in most estates in the Left Bank, 2011 was a very laborious vintage. Severe selection was necessary in both the cellar and the vineyard as ripening was uneven as a result of the irregular weather patterns that began in June.
Frédéric describes the vintage as classic Médoc. but points out that in this case "it lacks that generous and smooth fruit around the tannins". It is, he concludes, a vintage that will clearly benefit from bottle aging. Watch the video and find out which older vintages remind Frédéric of 2011.
