Bordeaux 2012: Château Palmer's Alter Ego

Friday, May 15, 2015

In this video, Thomas Duroux, winemaker and general manager at Château Palmer, explains what is behind the outstanding quality of his 2012 Alter Ego – the estate's second wine. For Thomas, it is important to rethink the concept of the second wine in Bordeaux – not as subordinate to the grand vin, but as a wine that is equally important though made in a different style. As Thomas explains, in the case of Alter Ego less extraction was used and the aim was to obtain as much fresh fruit as possible. As Duroux concludes, "The idea is for Alter Ego to be as important as Château Palmer itself".
