Bordeaux's 2013 Exceptional Whites – Domaine de Chevalier

Friday, February 12, 2016

Nestled in a conifer forest in the heart of Pessac-Léognan is Domaine de Chevalier. The estate consistently produces outstanding whites, and in the past few decades, the reds are also delivering exceptional results. The enigmatic location and the high density of its vineyards might be in part responsible for the quality of the wines, but its the dedication and experience of Olivier Bernard and his team that really sets the bar here.

The 2013 vintage in Bordeaux was a complicated one for the red wines, but it produced spectacular results with both white and sweet wines. The bright acidity combined with the richness and density of those grapes that achieved the right maturity resulted in balanced yet fresh and minerally whites.

In this video, Adrien Bernard - who is part of the Bernard family who owns the domaine, and who is now working full-time at the estate with his father Olivier Bernard - comments on the winery’s white wine and why it was one of the best wines of 2013.
