Still at Château Lafite Rothschild in Bordeaux with Christophe Salin and Charles Chevallier, James dives into tasting the 2005 and 2009 vintages before recapping the four wines he tasted there. The nose on the 2005 immediately struck him as fabulous and nothing short of amazing with minerals, cigar box, and subtle dark red fruits. From first sniff, James declared the 2009 from barrel a pure Cabernet S auvignon, really ripe. The 1959 Lafite is what he considers to be the classic, model Lafite, so how will the 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2009 measure up against it, and each other? Is there a perfect wine in the bunch? Watch and see.
