Château Latour: 2009, 2005, 2003, 2000

Friday, February 4, 2011

I can honestly say this was the first time I road a bike at Château Latour. However, I have been to the famous Bordeaux first growth dozens of times – may be hundreds – during my 30-year career as a wine critic and journalist. In terms of pedigree and wine quality, Latour is arguably the greatest wine estate on earth. I have drunk wines dating back to the mid-1800s, and they are still fabulous. The classics are 1929, 1945, 1959, 1961, and 1982, among others. However, for this visit in the fall of last year, I tasted the top-of-the-charts modern vintages with Frédéric Engerer, the president of Latour. I had a number of 100-point, perfect wines. See if you can guess which ones before seeing the video.
