Chateau Leoville Barton: 2000, 2003, 2005, 2009

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Anthony Barton is one of the most experienced winemakers in Bordeaux. The owner of the wonderful wine estates of Leoville-Barton and Langoa-Barton, Anthony has been making wines in Bordeaux's appellation of St.-Julien since the 1950s. However, it's in the last decade that his top estate – Leoville-Barton – has been making its greatest wines.

It's difficult to say which of the most recent vintages of the 2000s are his best. They are all excellent. Regardless of the year, Anthony always gives an honest opinion on his wines, and I appreciate his love of wines with balance and structure at the same time. It's all about drinkability of a wine for Anthony. See what he has to say on visit to the property late last year.
