Don Melchor’s Enrique Tirado on 2022: ‘An Amazing Vintage’

James talks with Enrique Tirado, the winemaker for Chilean vintner Don Melchor, about how they made such a precise red in the hot and dry vintage of 2022. James asked him what was so special about the vintage.

"At the beginning of summer, it was close to normal, slightly warmer – perfect for cabernet sauvignon in Puente Alto," Tirado said. "And then all the maturity season was cooler than normal, so that situation allowed us to keep and maintain the freshness, the purity, the expression, the balance, the harmony in the wine."
