DUMOL WINERY’S ANDY SMITH ON ‘THE BEST VINTAGE’ OF HIS CAREER [VIDEO]

Friday, March 24, 2023

James Suckling tasted some newly released chardonnays and pinot noirs from Dumol Winery in Sonoma County, California, with winemaker and co-owner Andy Smith. "What struck me was the phenolics, tension and structure of the wines," James tells Andy. "These seem to be wines, really, for the cellar, but I wouldn't mind drinking them tonight as well."

Is it the best vintage of Smith's career? "I think so," Smith says. "I've been here for 25-years plus now and I think of vintages like 2002, 2010, '15, '18 for sure, but if you look at all the wines as a group, I think the 21s are probably top of the pile."
