From 2012: In this video James talks to Giuseppe Benanti, owner of Benanti wines. He tasted a range of their wines in the Benanti estate just outside of Catania, Sicily. Giuseppe's grandfather started producing wines on the slopes of the Etna in the late 1800's. Benanti's vineyards are located on the northern, eastern and southern slopes of the Etna. Although they produce a series of wines made from international varieties at Benanti they focus on Etna's autochthonous varieties Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Capuccio and the white grape Carricante. As Giuseppe states "we are very lucky to use these particular grapes" because they can guarantee an authentic expression of the land.
Watch the video and hear Giuseppe and James discuss the quality of the Etna wines. Enjoy!
