Mexican Wine: Cool Wine Shop in Ensenada

Monday, February 27, 2012

I went to a super coolio wine shop and restaurant in the center of Ensenada, Mexico, called La Contra. It’s a great stop for anyone interested in Mexican wines and the selection is second to none. Hugo d’Acosta, the famous winemaker of Baja California, is the owner, and he stocks just about every quality wine made in Mexico – including his hard to get Vino de Piedra.

As you will see in the video, I bought a number of wines for my tasting. The results were posted a few days ago.

It’s a shame more Americans, particularly those in Southern Calif., do not venture down to Mexican wine country and Ensenada. Lots of great food and wine, particularly seafood, is available. It’s not all narcotraficantes – drug dealers.
