Napa Valley: Winemaker Helen Keplinger discusses the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Vintages in Napa

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

Just North of Saint Helena is a tiny property of not more than an acre that has become one of Napa's most prized properties. The vineyard, which was planted in 1978 and replanted in 1996, is just below an old house from the late 1880s, which is where owners Dick and Ann Grace live. The wine is only sold by a mailing list to a small group of lucky individuals; the rest is sold exclusively at auction houses. All the profits made from selling the Grace wines is destined to help build hospitals in developing parts of the world.

In this video, Helen Keplinger, who has recently been appointed technical director at Grace Family Vineyards and who also makes her own Rhone inspired labels in California, comments on the 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 vintages in Napa. While she agrees that all are outstanding in quality, it is the 2013 that’s built to last the longest. Watch the video to find out from one of California's top winemakers about Napa's recent vintage as well as some of its greatest.
