Sicily: Planeta – The Wine

Friday, November 23, 2012

In this video James met with owners of Planeta, Francesca and Alessio Planeta, to taste a number of their wines in their Noto estate in the province of Syracuse, south eastern Sicily. Alessio and Francesca discuss the revival of autochthonous varieties such as Nero D'Avola or Carricante in Sicily. Sicily, as Francesca states, "is not an island it's a continent". What she means is that the endless climatic conditions and terroirs throughout the island make the island itself an archipelago of wine growing conditions. Watch the video for the full story.
