In this never-before-seen video from our archive, James visited Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Pessac-Léognan to taste their 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2009 with owner Daniel Cathiard. The estate, which originated in the 14th century, is one of the few top châteaux in Bordeaux that makes both dry whites and compelling reds.
Watch the video to see James taste and comment on these reds of Smith Haut Lafitte, followed by two whites: 2007 and 2008. In Bordeaux, the dry white is always tasted after the red, since it makes your palate fresh.
