Frédéric Engerer, president of the famous Bordeaux first growth Château Latour, is one of the guiding lights in France’s premier wine region. Under his guidance, Latour has gone from strength to strength, particularly in vintages from 2000 and onwards. It is now consistently producing either the No. 1 or No. 2 wine in a given vintage in Bordeaux. He also manages the Burgundy estate of Domaine D’Eugenie, formerly the winery of René Engel, which shares the same owner as Latour: fashion magnate and super art collector Francois Pinault. Frédéric is a keen wine lover and collector. He loves great Bordeaux, but he is equally passionate about all wines, especially Burgundy. I was with him at Latour early this fall, and I asked him THE three questions.
