At number three, we have an interview with Alexandre Thienpont, the winemaker for Vieux Chateau Certan and Le Pin. In this video, Alexandre compared the 2009 and 2010 vintages in Pomerol. Vieux Chateau Certan and Le Pin made spectacular wines both years, and Alexandre had a hard time picking a favorite. For him, the 2009 vintage is a like a "silk caress," while the 2010 is much more masculine and defined.
Alexandre believes the climate played a central role in the quality of these incredible wines. However, he also noted that there was a substantial amount of work going on behind the scenes. Alexandre wisely states, "there is no miracle -- it's always work, work, work."
