Top 100 Wines of 2014: #5 Peter Michael Winery Le Caprice 2012

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Runner up at No. 5 on JamesSuckling.com's Top 100 Wines of 2014 is Peter Michael Winery Pinot Noir Fort Ross Seaview Sonoma County Le Caprice 2012. The Sonoma pinot's purity of fruit, as well as the impressive tannin structure, are some of the qualities of the wine that captivated James.

In this interview, general manager Tom Eakin describes what made the 2012 Le Caprice so special. One of the key elements of this wine's quality is the balance during the 2012 vintage in Sonoma, where no heat spikes or dominant rain were present. The result is a wine with purity, balance and elegance without sacrificing structure.
