It's pretty outrageous to sit in the jump set of a Boeing 767 while landing. But even more so, landing on to the runway of Havana's Jose Marti Airport.
I couldn't upload this video until now. I ran into a friend of mine who was the pilot of my flight from Rome to Havana about a week ago when I was coming to the 33rd New Latin American Film Festival to screen my documentary "Cigars: The Heart and Soul of Cuba." So I asked him if I could sit up front with him and his co-pilots. And, of course, he answered, "No problem."
It was a cool experience to say the least. I remember years ago, we smoked a cigar in the cockpit of a Lauda Air flight from Milan to Havana. That might have been pushing it if I asked him to do the same last week.
Hope you enjoy the video blog.
