In Case You Missed It: Originally posted November 29, 2010

Wally’s Wine Shop in Westwood is a favorite haunt in my hometown of Los Angeles. I dig hanging out with owners Steve Wallace and Christian Navarro, but this time it wasn’t for just fun. I bought five wines for $30 or less that they thought were worth 90 points or more. And then I tasted them with Christian to see if the wines were really all that good. They ended up four for five. Only the Bordeaux wasn’t outstanding quality.

Ratings:

2009 Stoneleigh Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc: 90 points ($13.99)

2009 Montebuena Rioja: 90 points ($9.99)

2008 Tantara Cuvee Maria Pinot Noir: 90 points ($29.99)

2007 Principe Corsini Birillo: 91 points ($22.99)

2008 Pessac-Leognan du Chateau Haut-Bailly: less than 90 points
