Wine Crush: Blandy’s Sercial Madeira 1989

Friday, November 22, 2024

The Blandy’s Sercial Madeira 1989 is Senior Editor Jacobo García Andrade's Wine Crush this week. It’s a dry multidimensional sercial with aromas of roasted orange rind, toast and dried fruit. The palate is austere, dry and sharp, but so seductive and complex overall. It was aged up until a month before bottling in a canteiro system, in 650-liter American oak barrels. The CEO of Blandy's, Christopher Blandy, says you could drink a pint of it, and Jacobo heartily agrees.
