Wine Crush: El Regajal Castilla y León Galia Clos Santuy 2019

Monday, August 5, 2024

This is a wine for tannin lovers. Senior Editor Zekun Shuai’s Wine Crush this week is the fresh El Regajal Castilla y León Galia Clos Santuy 2019, a collaboration between French winemaker Jerome Bougnaud and Madrid winery Regajal.

The wine is all about tension and freshness with an abundance of close-knit tannins. Clos Santuy is a 1.12-hectare, ungrafted vineyard in Soria planted in 1930. The wine was aged 24 months in French barrels but you won’t find any sweetness from the oak. It’s all about minerality and precision.
