Tasting Report: 100 Points Collection

5 TASTING NOTES
Wednesday, Dec 08, 2010

It's not everyday that you have the opportunity to taste five perfect wines, but I was lucky enough to experience just that last Thursday in the three-starred Michelin restaurant L'Arpège during a very special lunch in Paris. It was the launch of my new range of glassware – LALIQUE James Suckling 100 POINTS.

The lunch was fabulous with about 30 journalists attending from fashion magazines to wine journals. Everyone seemed blown away by the selection of wines: 1996 Moët & Chandon Champagne Dom Perignon Oenotheque, 2009 Château Haut-Brion Blanc, 1998 Château Cheval Blanc, 2000 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto Riserva and 2001 Château d'Yquem. The Barolo was in magnum. These were all wines that I scored 100 points in the past.

But it wasn’t just the wine the journalists enjoyed – they also seemed to love the glasses from the Champagne flute to the ornate decanter.

This was, indeed, a special moment for me personally as it was the making of a dream. I always dreamed of making my own wine glass range that was not only functional but beautiful. LALIQUE, arguably the best crystal maker in world, certainly delivered.
