2008 Podere Salicutti Rosso di Montalcino Sorgente
Wednesday, Aug 08, 2012

I found this impressive Rosso today during a blind tasting in my office of various Tuscan reds. Unfortunately, the wine was left out of my report on Rosso di Montalcino last week. Click here to read the report.
Podere Salicutti always makes excellent Brunello di Montalcinos; however, many forget that it also makes fabulous Rosso di Montalcinos. The 2008 is a delicious wine to drink now and went beautifully with a spicy curry, ginger and garlic poached piece of sea bass at lunch. It showed lots of cocoa, dried fruits and hints of Indian spices. Full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a fresh, linear finish. Excellent. Drink now. 92 points.
