Official Guidebook: Our Top 100s of 2021

Tuesday, Feb 08, 2022

2021 has been a great year for tasting wine at JamesSuckling.com. We rated a record 25,000-plus wines over the last 12 months, and we found so many exciting wines, from 2018 Bordeaux and Napa reds to 2020 German and Austrian whites, not to mention all the other superb wines from Argentina, Australia, California, Italy and New Zealand. Plus, we found a few gems from Chile, Hungary, Portugal and South Africa.

We are proud of all the work we did together to review all the wines, even amid the pandemic! It was a great effort by all the JamesSuckling.com editors and tasters, including Jo Cooke, Kevin Davy, Andrii Stetsiuk, Claire Nesbitt, Stuart Pigott, Zekun Shuai, William McIlhenny, Nathan Slone and Nick Stock. I am not sure many other wine media organizations found the time or the energy to rate so many wines in 2021, but we were up to the task, with most of the tastings taking place in Hong Kong. Thousands of other bottles were also tasted and rated on the road in Europe and the United States as well as a few thousand in South Australia.
